October 2015

Abby was playing dress up and posing for Grandpa Kelly, who was snapping these cute pictures. SO cute!

Pink cupcakes for Brie to take to school as a birthday treat.

Abby wanted a grape cake, meaning a cake shaped like a bunch of grapes. This was acceptable to her.
I can do simple. Simple is good sometimes!

This is what I was GOING for on Brie's cake. This frosting art thing was an experiment so don't judge me too harshly.

Brie, on the otherhand, wanted a shopkins cake. At the time, there was NO shopkin themed birthday decorations available in stores so I had to just wing it. This is my frosting Cupckake Queen. (A couple weeks later there WERE shopkin theme decorations. Of course.)
This cake was a bit of an adventure. My baggie of black frosting burst open as I was outlining one eye, and it blobbed out right smack between the eyes and onto half the other eye. Ugh! I think I recovered it well enough. But sheesh. It HAD to be the black and it HAD to blob on the EYE. Naturally.

My cuties all together.

So, going for a Shopkins themed party, we had a Shopkin hunt in the backyard. The cups were the collecting recepticles. We hid 75 shopkins out there (we've collected many more since then!) and the kids found them ALL, though it took until a couple games later to find the last one.

 Counting the goods.

Daddy thought of this game. Someone threw pieces of clothing over the edge and some kids below tried catching them. I thought it was a rather strange party game, but the kids had a blast! That's why I love putting Daddy in charge of party games. I would have never even considered something like that.

Jamay entertained herself while waiting for her turn to catch/throw clothes.

Along with sugaring up all the kids, we like to wear them out as much as possible at our parties. Daddy sets up some great obstacle courses and the kids run themselves full throttle to finish fastest!

Run/hop from green thing to green thing was part of it

Going over one hockey stick then under the next was part of it

Lastly, they had to kick a soccer ball into the wall between the two little goal markers. (Again, that's not something Mommy would have had them do, especially with a window right there, but it was all good.)

Abby was bashful, but still got into it just like the bigger girls.

We had an overlapping kid party/family party. The kids were there and played games for awhile. Then when it was time for food we had EVERYONE over to eat. Then the kids all went downstairs to enjoy present opening along with a couple of the grown ups who wanted to watch. The rest of the big people visited and munched upstairs.

We would have done something simpler (and cheaper by about half) like pizza. Only Brie doesn't like pizza, the crazy kid. So we went with something she really likes: Subway! I had no desire or time to try cooking for this many people after doing the cakes.

 Make a wish!
We did cake and ice cream last. The kids left as they were finishing up their treats. Sugar them up RIGHT before sending them home. That's how we roll.

Auntie Jennifer worked at the Flower Box and was able to arrange these cute flowers for the girls. They loved them!

Grandma Heit hosted a fun Halloween party for the girls here at our house.
They played pin the nose on the pumpkin

 And played Halloween Bingo

And decorated these pumpkin bags to add to our pumpkin patch

Chelsea refused to stuff hers and insisted on using them for treat bags instead. But that was all good.

 They also decorated ghost cookies

And made spider web plates, complete with spiders for their ghost cookies to hang out on

And they made some fun paper dolls while Grandma put together the feast

 Pudding/cookie/gummy worm dirt cups

 Peanut butter/marshmallow/apple smiles

 Deviled egg/olive spiders

 Mummified hotdog croissants

And of course the ghost cookies

They also went on a bat hunt/scavenger hunt complete with clues to the places Grandma hid them. I think they may have enjoyed themselves! Grandma is so creative! She's always full of fun ideas for crafts and games and activities!

Time for the church Halloween party. Abby insisted on being a cat again. Brie was the Autumn Fairy this year. And Chelsea was a cat as well, only a little more grown up version. Mommy had to work and didn't get to go to this party.

But I got slightly festive for work. I sprayed my hair purple and wore a cloak. We decided I was Mal from Disney's Descendents, since she has purple hair and is a witch.

Mommy didn't get to trick or treat this year either thanks to having to work, but Daddy and the girls had a great time out and about!
