Happy Birthday Chelsea!

Well our little one has hit a milestone! She is officially a year old as of 2:11 PM on Wednesday, May 21, 2008. We didn't have room to invite all of her friends and their parents...uh..and we didn't plan too far ahead of time and never got invitations made...or sent out. No offense to all the little ones that like to play with Chelsea! :) So we had a family gathering on her birthday. That was plenty of people to fill the house (and the toy box!) We had a great time watching Chelsea learn how to open presents. (Christmas is going to be GREAT this year!) and watching her walk around playing with them and listen to her comments on them. Happy Birthday Little One! We look forward to many more to come!

I'm ready for the party! (You will notice there are little clips in her hair in this picture.)

Oh where did the clips go? They stayed in for about four seconds, just long enough for me to snap the previous picture. You will note that none of the following pictures have clips. Grr. Now that her hair lays down, we need something to jazz it up. Oh well. I trimmed her bangs, so they don't poke her in the eyes anymore. That will have to do for now. Until she discovers herself in the mirror. I mean REALLY discovers her appearance, hehe.

Elmo! We had an Elmo theme since Elmo is one of Chelsea's favorite stuffed toys to play with at Grandma Kelly's house. I'm a slacker mom and didn't make my own daughter's cake. Autie Jennifer made and decorated the cake. Didn't she do a great job? Thanks Jennifer! It's much better than I would have done myself.

Here is the spread. The idea was to just have some light refreshments, but it turned out to be more like a full out meal. At least nobody went hungry! We also had rootbeer floats for all. Yum!

Mommy picked out this dolly for Chelsea. The packaging is almost as fun as the doll. She loves to carry around anything with a handle.

Chelsea can't get enough of balls. She got a number of them for her birthday, all of which are her favorite, hehe.

All these new toys sure are exciting!

My hobo daughter. Who's idea was it to give her a piece of cake with BLACK frosting? I guess it's better than all red. That would probably look a little more like blood. Ick.

After eating her cake, we gave her a bath. Then all of us grown up amused ourselves by watching the naked one play with all her new toys. She didn't mind.

Here is Chelsea having fun with her new Dora chair. She absolutely loves having a place to sit. (Other than the floor, that is.) No, we are not trying to keep her captive or anything. She had the ring around her neck like a necklace, and it slipped down. She didn't seem to mind, though.

Here she's wearing her new flip flops and playing with her new push popper (which she loves!). She didn't get anything that she doesn't like, now that I think about it. All gift givers knew what would make Chelsea happy. She plays with all her new toys (and clothes) quite regularly.

And of course we have to have some video of the cake. She was pretty timid at first, and not quite sure what she thought of the frosting. She got a piece of cake that had part of Elmo's mouth-black frosting, so by the time she finishes, she looks like she's a little hobo with a beard. :)
